What are your plans?

For a moment, please imagine where will you be in 2050, and what will you be doing. Except if you say you’ll be probably dead, I’m pretty sure I can say you are wrong. At least, if we, in sense of all the mankind, don’t do something now.

Some time ago scientific community told the world that polar bears are losing weight, because of the global heating. They say the bears are not able to find food enough. I say the bears are refusing to find food. The Nature is telling us: “hey, human beings, take a look, it’s a warning: there are wild animals that would rather starve to die, because they know there’s no future if you don’t change the state of the things”.

Missing (someone else’s) past

There is a long time since I started trying to learn English. I never thought, however, that someday I would dare writing in English (despite the fact that once I went to Languages School).

Since I’m not really an English speaker, be prepared to find mistakes, misconstructions, nonsense and several other classes of ineptitude in commanding this language. And, of course, poverty of vocabulary. too.

And the first subject I choose to write about is not easy to translate to another language: in Portuguese “saudade”; in English “nostalgia”, perhaps.

But I’m not talking about that kind of nostalgia regarding your childhood, or a person or place you miss. Sometimes I’m assaulted by a nostalgia regarding time and stuff I never lived.

That’s mostly real when I listen to some old songs by Italian artists, or those that were the hits in 1960, 1950 or even early. They make me feel as if a part of me was stuck in a past that’s not, that cannot be mine.

O real sentido de “software livre”

Quando escrevi o artigo Linux X Windows um monte de gente me criticou, me chamou de elitista, mais outra pá não disse nada pensando que sou nerd, louco, radical e doente mental, tudo ao mesmo tempo.

Contudo, acabo de ler o seguinte artigo: O futuro do PC caseiro. Em resumo, você será levado a um outro artigo, adequadamente citado, em que se pode ler que a próxima versão do Windows deverá ter recursos de DRM implementados diretamente no Kernel. Ou seja, o usuário perderá definitivamente o controle sobre a mídia audiovisual.
